ABOUT JAMESON WALKER

I am a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago\'s School of Environmental Sustainability with a BA in Environmental Policy. I am most passionate about environmental justice, whether it be in my research, my work, my volunteer experience, or day to day life. In my work at the Institute of Cultural Affairs USA, environmental justice is working with the Uptown community to build resiliency through climate action. In my role, I work with building owners and tenants as a part of the Uptown Decarbonization Collaborative to re-imagine the infrastructure of Uptown\'s buildings by cutting carbon, cutting costs, and uplifting affordable housing and sustainable design. In my research, environmental justice means exploring the impacts of energy crises after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, measuring the energy efficiency and infrastructural stability of Chicago\'s migrant shelters, or assessing the misattribution of blame in media coverage surrounding climate change in the Global South. And in my personal life, environmental justice is sustainable urban gardening, volunteering at Edgewater Mutual Aid Network\'s free food distribution, biking and walking just about everywhere I go, and monitoring community air quality to protect myself and my neighbors.
