WORK HISTORY
Managing Director @Social Ventures
Honolulu, HI, US
During periods where I am not in a leadership role in an organization, I serve as an advisor and consultant to nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, social enterprises, and government entities. My practice has focused on public policy research, community organizing, strategic planning, human services, affordable housing, and social entrepreneurship. In the policy realm, my clients have included Hawaii Appleseed, Hawaiian Community Assets, the Hawaii Institute for Public Affairs, the State House of Representatives, and various State and County government agencies. In education, I worked with the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation, the Good Beginnings Alliance, the Hawaii P-20 Initiative, and the national New Teacher Center among others. In social enterprise and economic development, I helped startup the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement’s loan fund, raised loan capital for the Hawaii Community Loan Fund, conducted due diligence for the loan- and venture funds of Boston Community Capital (now BlueHub Capital), and developed economic development plans for the Economic Development Boards of Oahu, Kauai, and Maui.
