WORK HISTORY
Trainee Counsellor @Midland Therapy Group
You don’t have to be in crisis to come to counselling. Most people don’t come to counselling because something is “wrong” with them. They come because something in their life isn’t working the way they hoped.Overthinking that never switches off.Relationship patterns that keep repeating.Feeling stuck between who you are and who you feel you “should” be.For many people, this gets labelled as anxiety. But often, it’s less about a diagnosis and more about feeling disconnected from yourself.I work with people who want to understand themselves more clearly, so they can change what’s no longer working. My approach is person-centred. I won’t tell you who to be or what decisions to make.Instead, we create a space where you can explore what’s really going on beneath the surface, at your own pace, in your own way. That might mean making sense of relationship dynamics. It might mean understanding how you want to show up for yourself.Or it might be about finding your footing during a period of change.Alongside my training, my work is shaped by the real-life experience of navigating relationships, fatherhood, and personal change. I understand how complex this can feel from the inside. If you’re at a point where something needs to shift, but you’re not sure what that looks like yet, I can help you work that out.You can reach out directly, or connect with Midland Therapy Group and ask for James. If you’d like to get a sense of how I think and work, feel free to follow my content or visit jamesdelin.com.

ABOUT JAMES DELIN
ADHD at 35 feels like sprinting with untied shoelaces: brilliant bursts, bruising face-plants, repeat. If that’s your Tuesday—keep reading.I help late-diagnosed (or suspected) ADHD professionals turn idea-storms into step-by-step progress—without crushing creativity. Why this matters:🧠 Self-awareness ≠ change. You’ve binged every podcast, saved every worksheet, yet deadlines still slip and relationships still flare. Traditional coaching misses the body. Executive-function hacks fall flat when your nervous system is in red-alert. Therapy can stall in the past. Insight is powerful, but you need forward traction today. What working together looks like:• Check-In Triangle Habit – recognise sensation → feeling → need before the spiral.• Needs-to-Ask Script – speak requests your partner actually hears.• Impulse-Buy Debrief + ADHD-Safe Budget Map – money talks without meltdowns.• Sleep-First Accountability Loop – rescue REM, regulate mood.• Peer-Circle Blueprint – build your own support squad so coaching becomes multiplication, not dependence. Why trust me: Experience - Late ADHD diagnosis after a decade of burnout; I’ve walked the maze and mapped the shortcuts. Qualified - CPCAB: CSK-L3 & CAST-L3 Active - Host “Shallow & Deep with James Delin” - a fast-growing podcast turning research into real-world tools.
