As the principal structural engineer of record, I oversee jobs from initial structural proposals to setting fees and establishing ongoing workload requirements. My responsibilities include leading the structural team, developing junior staff, and ensuring quality control at all project phases. Some notable projects I have delivered include the New Patient Care Tower at Michael Garron Hospital, One Delisle Condominium, 85 Richmond St, and The Lake Club at Friday Harbour.I coordinate office scheduling and workload management, working with project managers and BIM leadership to maintain sustainable staffing levels. I have led or developed several tools and policies to aid in project planning and execution.I have also led an office-wide initiative to improve budgeting and design efficiency. I work with project managers to ensure they are aware of project fees and budgets, providing feedback and guidance as needed. I have developed and implemented tracking tools to ensure additional scope requests are captured and addressed fairly with clients. I oversee the overall financial management of jobs under my supervision, including those managed by other staff.I maintain active client relationships with a strong track record of repeat business by providing high-quality, client-centric service. I am also involved in business development efforts to attract new clients by highlighting the value provided by the team at Salas O\'Brien.I believe that well-engineered buildings are a critical aspect of planning for our future.
