At the LAM²P Lab at the USF college of engeneering I am working on the early prototyping of a flexible self-powered super-capacitors (SPSCs) built from piezoelectric nanomaterials that convert everyday mechanical forces into electrical energy. Working with the lab team, I aim to embed these flexible SPSCs into wearable and implantable devices. This can be an eventual alternative to lithium-ion batteries in technologies such as implantable defibrillators, like the one that protects my mother, preventing the need for future procedures. The project has sharpened my skills in nanomaterial synthesis, and rapid assimilation of unfamiliar literature, equipping me to bridge engineering advances with future patient-centered care.
