Jim Young, a seasoned educator and school attorney, has been a stalwart advocate for education since 1986, believing it is a core civil right necessary for the future health of our democracy. Following his career as a teacher, Jim has served as a school attorney, representing public school districts, counties, public charter and private schools and other public agencies for over 30 years. Jim\'s pivotal success before the California Supreme Court in 2012 reinforced California’s public charter schools\' rights under the Charter Schools Act. Jim’s practice focuses on effective labor relations/collective bargaining, employment law, and optimal and ethical board governance. As a chief negotiator on behalf of public charter schools, Jim has played a key role in establishing pioneering labor agreements and throughout California. Widely recognized for his expertise, Jim is a sought-after speaker for charter school boards, organizations and agencies throughout California- his leadership and dedication continue to shape the landscape of our public education system.
