About James Wang
As a product counsel, the best part of my job is learning about and truly understanding my teams’ products and services, their use cases, and how to best position them for success in the future. I have counseled and partnered with many teams at Google: Bard, Assistant, TensorFlow, educational products (CS First, Applied Digital Skills, Grasshopper), University Relations, People + AI Research.I work with these teams on issues including: privacy (GDPR, CCPA, BIPA, COPPA), intellectual property (copyright, open source, content licensing), consumer protection, and product liability. I also review product design and launches with engineering teams, product managers, public policy, and public relations. In addition to product counseling, I also draft, review, and advise on terms of service for new products, consent forms for collecting data and user studies, joint research collaborations, and sponsored research agreements.
