During my time at Plus Dane i have been heavily involved in completing several projects and progrressing live projects these have included- Telephony replacement project - this was to replace and outdated and complex CUCM based system with IPFX on top with a simplified system on IPFX Director - this not only reduced costs for support and maintenance but also simplified the management of the phone systems- Citrix upgrade and migration project - this project was to build a replacement environment based on Xen app 7 along side the current XA 6.5 farm this included building and customisations to the gold images and building the delivery controllers, store fronts and director servers. The ongoing BAU element from this in 2021 is to complete a further update to the system and add an additional ESXI host- WAN replacement - a large project to replace the sluggish, ageing and unreliable WAN network and the EOL kit on the edge on the network. Moving to manage routers and firewalls that provide better bandwidth, resilience and better performance for Plus DANE staff and tenets accessing services. This again has provided savings for the department to invest in other areas. Other projects completed and managed by the infrastructure team include - ISDN to SIP - Colo project - Moving all systems to a data centre from on of our offices to a secure data centre- new printing contract and management via paper cut - office reconfiguration project this was the network, AV fit out for the new Plusdane office at the Royal Albert Dock. Several more projects are under way to deliver improvements and savings to the department and Plus Dane as a whole. including Migration to IaaS in both public and private cloud. Replacement of our DR system to includes all IaaS and office 365, which will simply the management and testing.
