ABOUT JAMES W. WILSON
Having been in the security field for 20+ years, I am deeply involved in the industry from multiple perspectives. Upon my transition from my law enforcement career, I launched an investigation business that focused on assisting insurance companies and defense law firms to mitigate risk through surveillance and investigation of claims of disability, workers compensation and general liability in accidents and injury losses. That work quickly expanded to security consulting and internal investigations for individual business and corporate clients along with adding loss prevention for retailers to the mix of my operations experience. My security industry work has encompassed consulting for public entities, security guard operations, and specialty projects for corporations and businesses. By keeping focus on company goals and risk exposure, I have made marked differences in premise, personnel, information security along with management recruitment and retention. As a fractional Chief Security Officer (CSO), I provide executive consulting in security management, business development, risk mitigation services, and investigations for varied customers including corporations, small business entities, utilities, insurance companies, manufacturers, service industries, private investigation firms, along with security guard and physical security providers. My Security Director as a Service (SDaaS) platform allows me to assist clients with suggestions to improve efficiency, reduce redundancy, and preclude vicarious liability – keeping premises, property, information, employees, vendors, and customers safe and secure. My Fractional CSO and SDaaS offerings provide contract security management, direction, consulting, training, customer service and risk mitigation programs. Since 2012, my commitment to mastery has led to being awarded the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) credential through ASIS – International which identifies the most qualified security professionals in the field as an internationally recognized qualification by attesting to the mastery of security knowledge through job experience and academic study. To earn the CPP designation, a difficult battery of mandatory and specialty exams must be mastered after having met strict experience and/or education prerequisites. To maintain my CPP credential, I continually to pursue education and professional activity while conducting CPP Preparation Course instruction for local chapters. The CPP designation is recognized as a true measure of competency and commitment to the security profession.
