As Director of Special Projects of the Department of Cultural Affairs I represented the Department in all aspects of the arts and cultural activities in response to citywide constituent, elected, and department related request of a special nature including serving on preliminary discussion and planning committees in support of the General Manage and other division heads. Responsibilities included: DCA liaison to the arts community in the South Los Angeles and North Valley Regions Supervision and oversight of the Vision Outdoors festival facility, Communication with Leimert Park Village residents and merchants through attendance at Leimert Park Task Force, and the Leimert Park Village Business Improvement District weekly meetings.Oversight of the Vision and Madrid Theaters, including the Theatre’s managerial and fiscal operations; hiring and directing and managing full and part-time administrative staff; review of applications requesting use of the Theatres, and organizing the Theaters marketing activities including programming of the Theater Marquees; Liaison with all City Council offices and their requests for technical assistance and support in their use of Civic Funds for projects within their districts of a special nature. The Position included receiving and approval of request to use city dates at City owned Theaters including the Los Angeles Theater Center, the Warner Grand, and the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center. The position included providing technical assistance to international representatives, the Consular Corp, and communities with regards to partnering with the City of Los Angeles to produce citywide festivals and special events, and coordination of events produced by the Department of Cultural Affairs.Serving as DCA representative on the Los Angeles Sister Cities, Inc. Board of Directors.
