ABOUT JAMES THOMAS
I\'m a consultant MSK radiologist and Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. My portfolio includes the Mansfield Community Diagnostic Centre, our Education Centre and Library and the Trust\'s Improvement Faculty.I trained in medicine at Southampton and Radiology in Nottingham, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists before undertaking an MSK fellowship in Leeds. Over the past decade I\'ve combined clinical practice with system leadership - from regional imaging network development to CDC design, education initiatives and culture change programmes across the organisation. My interests span operational healthcare leadership, diagnostics transformation, workforce welfare and healthcare technology. I\'m particularly drawn to the intersection of clinical delivery, organisational culture and technology-enabled change. I bring operational NHS experience, clinical credibility and a track record in service design across complex health systems.I co-authored the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Examination and Practical Skills, and I co-host Only Human After All, a podcast exploring the people and stories behind NHS roles. My approach to leadership is values-led, evidence-based and focused on making complex systems feel purposeful and human.Outside work I live in Nottingham with my wife, our cat Max, and far too much LEGO. I\'m particularly interested in how creativity and systems thinking intersect in healthcare leadership.
