ABOUT JAMES STOCKER
I lead complex organizations operating in high-pressure, politically sensitive, and operationally demanding environments.As Chief of Staff at the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), I serve as executive partner to the CEO of a national organization with 60 staff and a multi-million dollar operating budget. I am responsible for enterprise coordination across strategy, governance, operations, and crisis response, ensuring alignment between board direction, executive priorities, and organizational execution across a national footprint.I act as primary board liaison, and lead board and committee processes. I oversee governance planning, meeting execution, performance tracking, and decision follow-through to ensure disciplined oversight and institutional stability.Operationally, I lead enterprise KPI development and performance management across portfolios, integrate cross-functional initiatives, and manage complex HR and organizational files requiring executive discretion. My role bridges strategy and execution - translating direction into structured action and ensuring the organization performs under scrutiny.In parallel, I have served for over 25 years in the Canadian Armed Forces in progressively senior leadership roles, including multiple command appointments and senior staff positions at brigade and division levels. I have led units and task forces of up to 700 personnel in domestic and international operations, coordinated interagency efforts with federal and provincial partners, and represented Canada in multinational environments.I was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for leading Ontario’s long-term care COVID-19 response task force, integrating military and civilian medical teams across seven facilities during the height of the pandemic.Across sectors, I focus on institutional stability, disciplined execution, and aligning governance, operations, and accountability under pressure.
