About James Sobieraj

Jim Sobieraj is an experienced intellectual property attorney and patent litigator with more than three decades of experience in enforcing, licensing, and procuring of IP rights. He has been lead counsel in lawsuits involving patent infringement, ownership of patent rights, license disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, trade dress infringement, unfair competition, false advertising, fraud, antitrust, breach of contract and other commercial litigation. His litigation experience includes bench and jury trials, temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions, Markman hearings, appeals, arbitration, and mediation. Trained as an electrical engineer before going to law school, Sobieraj applies that training to represent clients with innovative technologies in the electronics, telecommunications, computer, consumer products and automotive industries. Those clients include Ericsson, ZTE, EXFO, and large automotive suppliers, as well as Amway—a direct-selling consumer products company for which he also handles commercial litigation. Sobieraj also served as the President of Brinks Gilson & Lione, one of the largest IP law firms in the United States, from 2012 through 2017. Previously, he served as chair of the firm\'s litigation practice group.
