ABOUT JAMES ROURKE

I have been a high school teacher for 18 years and this experience has had a profound influenced my writing as I have had two non-fiction books published. The focus of these titles is teaching and education. From My Classroom to Yours addresses teacher resiliency. It is an unfortunate truth that teachers often feel tremendous pressure and stress. It is also true that the teachers in the greatest danger of burning out are those who care the most. Our education system can not afford to lose a single good teacher to burnout and it is my hope this small title can help teachers navigate the sometimes treacherous waters of their years and careers. The Comic Book Curriculum is a practical guide to using comic books in an educational setting. Designed to enhance, but never replace, classic literature and historic themes, The Comic Book Curriculum is both philosophic and practical. While offering new ideas for presenting time honored material the book also contains ready to use teacher tools. I have presented material from each book a variety of venues (from book stores to educational conferences) and I am always open to meeting with teachers. My fiction, entitled The Eternal Struggle, is the first book of a YA trilogy. Historic figures battle in the afterlife to save the souls of people on Earth (Imagine Lord of the Rings meets Dante\'s Inferno). The first book of a planned trilogy The Eternal Struggle combines myth, fantasy, history, spirituality, and science fiction to weave a captivating tale. Why does history matter? Read The Eternal Struggle and find the answer!
