ABOUT JAMES ROMANELLI
I am an Analytics & Reporting specialist with experience collaborating across business, engineering, and control functions in order to deploy data-driven, and scalable solutions tailored to meet business requirements. My strong understanding in the fundamentals of Risk management, engineering practices, and control implementation which allows me to design and implement reports and procedures used for internal Risk departments and external regulators.I currently serve as the head of Quality Assurance within the Data Analytics & Reporting division at Citi where I apply my expertise to work alongside reporting teams on how to build robust processes. With focus on BCBS 239 standards my team identifies, advises and remediates issues relating to; inefficient report development, change management implementation, procedure documentation, control effectiveness, data lineage and EUC reduction. I developed my skill set working 9+ years at Goldman Sachs on a Risk Engineering team. At Goldman I supervised a global team in the development of automated reports and data aggregations for the Risk Division. Scope of my coverage included: Counterparty Credit Risk (CCPs & Prime Brokerage), Sovereign Risk Crisis Reporting, Consumer Risk, and CCAR stress testing. In addition, my role included setting Change Management standards and performing control gap analysis vs BCBS 239 Principles across all Risk stripes within the department. This part of my career developed my skills in using tools like Tableau, SQL, and Python to build reporting processes, as well as establishing control environments to meet internal and external regulatory standards for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. My ambitions outside of work include biking, boating and scuba diving - the latter of which has led me to some remote places in order to experience what others are yet to discover.
