About James Podell

Hello, I am James Podell, a devoted student in the Kelley Honors program at Indiana University, pursuing a triple major in finance, real estate, and international business, accompanied by a minor in Japanese. I am also a member of the Commercial Real Estate Workshop, where we compete in 10 cases across various categories, from multifamily development to private equity multifamily deals with complex waterfall models. My aspiration is to expand my knowledge in the field of investment management, with a particular focus on financial analysis and portfolio strategy. Ever since my childhood, I have been a keen follower of CNBC, and my fervor for money and investments has been instilled deeply within me. This passion has fostered a strong understanding of market dynamics, risk assessment, and the importance of compound interest in developing robust long-term portfolios. Apart from my academic accomplishments, I have also exhibited my leadership skills in the Boy Scouts of America. My enthusiasm for teaching and sharing knowledge, whether it’s knot-tying or complex financial principles, has been immensely rewarding. I aim to help clients understand investment strategies, asset allocation, and performance metrics, ultimately working toward becoming a successful investment analyst or portfolio manager. I firmly believe in maintaining a balance between work and life. As a consequence, I have enjoyed participating in various extracurricular activities, such as volunteering for organizations like Bears Care, as well as being an active member of the IU Commercial Real Estate Workshop. Being part of these activities has honed my communication skills and my ability to work effectively in a team. Looking ahead, I see myself working for a leading financial institution in an investment management consultancy or analytical role, serving clients globally. My ardor for finance, coupled with a deep commitment to analytical rigor and helping others achieve their financial goals, will be key assets in my future career.
