ABOUT JAMES PILGRIM
I am currently Chief Cable Specialist at Orsted, with involvement in a wide range of technical and engineering matters for onshore and offshore cable systems. Alongside my main role, I am actively involved in international working groups and the development of standards. I have recently contributed to Cigre WG B1.35, B1.50, B1.56, B1.64 and B1.72. Since November 2014 I have been the UK representative to IEC TC 20 WG 19 - the working group tasked with the maintenance of IEC standards relating to current ratings and short circuit limits of cables.Prior to joining Orsted, I worked as an Associate Professor in Electrical Power Engineering, based in the Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory at the University of Southampton. I gained a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southampton in July 2011. Subsequently I maintained an active research portfolio in the area of HV assets, with a particular focus on HV cable systems. I also undertook a wide range of consultancy activities for commercial clients.
