ABOUT JAMES PHILLIPS

As Senior Program Manager at Booking.com with over 6 years of experience at the company, I am responsible for the joint oversight of the Centralised Project and Program Management Team within the Central Tech Department. My role emphasizes international, inter-Departmental delivery management, strategic planning, and program governance, supported by PRINCE2 and P3O certifications. As a People Manager, I am responsible for leading a team consisting of Project Managers, Senior Project Managers and Program Managers, working across multiple Sub-Departments within Central Tech (in conjunction with other Departments), ensuring strategic projects and programs are staffed accordingly.Liaising with Business Leaders, I ensure my Delivery Team supports in effective scoping, discovery supporting in the calculation of value to be realised from strategic initiatives, ensuring we are supporting from a strategic perspective alongside the expected delivery of the work.By building, implementing and iterating full governance frameworks and optimizing project, program and portfolio planning standards, I help drive the success of large-scale international technology initiatives aligned with both strategic business and departmental objectives. Collaborating with global teams, I focus on improving workflows, applying mitigation strategies, and delivering tailored metrics and dashboards to stakeholders to foster continuous improvement and impactful outcomes with tangible value realisation for the company. This exposure has helped me to understand how to leverage tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet and Jira to automate processes and reporting, leading to more accurate KPIs and KRs escalated to Senior Leadership.With a background stretching across Banking, Pensions & Asset Management, along with my current focus on Technology at Booking.com, I have worked within a vast array of different environments in regards to levels of maturity for Delivery & Change. As a result, I have the abilities to build E2E Project & Program Management Target Operating Models tailored to the needs of businesses.
