ABOUT JAMES PEACOCK

Upon completion of my A-levels I joined as a trainee structural technician to pursue my career in structural engineering, I studied on a part time basis to obtain my Masters in Civil and Structural engineering. My roles and responsibilities have developed significantly over this period of time whereby I now act as project engineer on larger projects managing the delivery of the design package. On small to medium projects my role has developed into becoming a job manager whereby I manage my own projects in terms of finances, deliverables and managing the client. My design experience includes multi-storey RC frame, steel frame, masonry and timber, design of various types of foundations and basements, and retaining walls. I have also worked closely with a precast manufacturer to design precast concrete elements including Culverts and stairs. I have an extensive knowledge of RC frame including the analysis using finite element software. I am also fully conversant with AutoCad to produce structural CAD drawings including general arrangement plans, structural details and RC detailing. I am currently working towards becoming a Chartered Structural Engineer with IStructE whereby I have submitted my IPD and recently passed my professional interview. The type of projects I work on are varied from small domestic projects to £60m residential schemes. I get involved with both new build and refurbishment. I have recently acted as Project Engineer on a large residential scheme on Stoke Quay in Ipswich. This was a really enjoyable scheme with many engineering challenges which were solved during the design process.
