About James Monast
Nobody calls a workers’ comp lawyer on a good day. They call when they’re hurt, scared, and not sure what comes next. For nearly 40 years, I’ve been helping injured workers and people with long-term disabilities in Ohio get the benefits they’ve earned — and protecting them from a system that too often works against them. I started my career inside the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation as a staff attorney. I saw firsthand how claims were handled — and how employers and insurers sometimes use “deny at all costs” tactics, even over something as small as a $13 medical bill. That’s not right. That’s why I’ve dedicated my career to representing only injured workers and their healthcare providers — never employers. I come from a working-class family. I’ve swept floors, hauled peat moss, driven forklifts, and even caused an industrial injury myself when I made a bad call on the job (long story). I know what it means to work hard — and how life can change in an instant when you get hurt. Along the way, I’ve written two books to help people navigate the process: • The Worker’s Guide to Injury Compensation in Ohio — plain-English guidance for navigating workers’ comp. • Don’t Go It Alone: How Insurance Companies Sabotage Disability Claims — a behind-the-scenes look at how insurers fight valid LTD claims. Today, my team and I guide our clients step-by-step through the process, fight to get their benefits approved, and make sure they’re never facing the system alone. If you’ve been hurt at work or denied disability benefits, let’s talk.
