James Milder

About James Milder

I am James Christian Milder, a mechanical engineering graduate from Iowa State University. I am an extremely detail orientated person that cares about efficiency and quality above all else. I have over five years of Solidworks experience. I earned my CSWA (Certified Solidworks Associate) in my sophomore year of high school. During the summer of 2019, I got the opportunity to be a mechanical engineering intern at Signode Industrial Group in Glenview, IL. One of my projects with them was the creation of a fastener library. This library was a massive success and is now used internationally. During the spring and summer of 2020, I was on an 8 month co-op with Smithco Manufacturing. I am helped with the design and prototype some parts while providing manufacturing support. I learned gained invaluable manufacturing experience and knowledge. Due to the wide range of projects, I served as a continuous improvement engineer for Smithco. My classes and these internships have taught me a substantial amount about design but more importantly taught me to consider the manufacturing aspect and consumer needs in my designs.
