ABOUT JAMES MELTON
I am currently a Research Associate at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, where I manage data extraction and analysis for key surveys, author economic publications, and develop data visualization tools using R and Stata to support FOMC briefings and regional economic outlooks. In February, I will be joining the Virginia Economic Development Partnership as an Analyst on the Economic Competitiveness team, continuing my professional journey in economic development and public policy.With expertise in econometrics, statistical analysis, and programming (Python, R, SQL, and Stata), I combine technical capabilities with strong communication skills developed through my Economics degree and English minor from VCU\'s Honors College (GPA: 3.80). My experiences analyzing industry trends, researching economic indicators, and developing data-driven solutions have prepared me to contribute meaningfully to economic development initiatives. I am passionate about leveraging economic policy to create sustainable growth opportunities and plan to pursue a master\'s degree in Public Policy to further my goal of eventually leading state-level economic development initiatives.
