ABOUT JAMES MCLAGGAN
I\'m a chartered professional engineering manager with broad experience of technical design, simulation, development, testing and certification of automotive hybrid powertrains, particularly high-voltage batteries. My experience ranges from fundamental research to production. From 2014 to Dec 2020, I worked at McLaren Automotive Ltd, leading the energy storage systems team. In Dec 2020, I chose to leave McLaren to spend a sabbatical year continuing the build my own sportscar.In early 2022, I joined WMG, University of Warwick, where I work in the battery systems team. This is a highly varied role, covering multiple market-sectors (micro-mobility, automotive, aerospace, marine, stationary storage) and engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, thermal, safety, manufacturing), working with industrial partners to advance battery systems in the UK and elsewhere.I\'m experienced in overcoming time and cost pressures to deliver focused technical solutions, and I\'m an enthusiastic team player, who thrives on opportunities for new learning and is highly motivated to reduce the environmental impact of vehicles.
