About James Meador

Growing up my family and I went to a lot of sporting events. We would go to a lot of MLB games, NFL games, college football and basketball games, and numerous auto racing events involving NASCAR and going to local and regional short tracks dirt and asphalt. Going to these events started a fire that I wanted to compete and be involved in sports. The sports world has always been a family tradition. My grandparents and aunt would take brother, sister, and me to see the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball, my dad took me to see the Atlanta Braves, Nashville Predators, and the Tennessee Titans play. My parents took us to see multiple football and basketball games at Vanderbilt University as my dad is a Vandy graduate. All the time spent with my family at the ballpark, or the arena will stay with me forever and I hope to pass that same type of enjoyment on to my kids one day. While going to and watching all these events on tv, I became a student of the game. I have always been interested in learning the plays, the different strategies and tactics coaches may take, how teams may draft in the off season, and the statistics of the leagues, not just my teams. I wanted to know who the best player was with my head and not my heart. If the love of being a mechanic, working with my hands, and knowing how things worked is genetic then I got a double dose. Both grandfathers were mechanics and worked with their hands, as did my dad. That turned into my dad getting into motorsports in the local area, and him passing it on to me. We spent many long weekends travelling, either going to the races or taking our car to go racing and made many wonderful memories that can never be replaced. In the Navy I served as an aviation structure mechanic, I have been trained to work on jets and helicopters. The training I received consisted of metal work, fiberglass repair, hydraulic systems, flight controls, and landing gear. I have spent the last 8 years as a maintenance manager and program inspector. I have been planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance that needs to be completed and inspecting programs to ensure that the Commands are following the strict publications and guidelines that the Navy has issued for us to use. I am married to my awesome wife Dawn, and we have three wonderful kids Jimmy, Tara, and Jayce. My wife has had an incurable lung disease called Pulmonary Hypertension for 25 years. For the last 10 years, we spent time on studies for research, and helping other patients to help them cope with and learn how to grow with the same disease.
