About James Lukash

Jim Lukash has experience that ranges from the ocean depths to deep space, including; undersea & surface naval systems, land systems, aircraft, missiles, launch vehicles, manned spacecraft, earth-orbiting spacecraft and interplanetary spacecraft. Jim was a college intern at the Naval research lab at Carderock, MD. Upon graduation his love of space exploration lead him to McDonnell Douglas Astronautics (Now Boeing) in Huntington Beach, CA. He performed circuit design and EMI/EMC design for a number of space programs, including the International Space Station, Delta II and Delta Launch Vehicles, PAM-S, Space shuttle payloads, and the DC-X Reusable Launch Vehicle. He also worked fixed wing aircraft systems (C-17 Transport), helicopter systems, and several naval systems while earning his masters degree at night school. His desire to broaden his space experience led him to Lockheed Martin Astronautics in Denver, CO. There he supported the Atlas V and Athena Launch Vehicles, and several interplanetary exploration probes including the Mars Odyssey Orbiter, Mars Climate Orbiter, Mars Polar Lander, Stardust, Genesis, JIMO, Juno and other missions. On these missions he was involved in all phases, from proposal to end of mission. The untimely demise of MPL and MCO provided a opportunity to further broaden his space experience by transferring to Lockheed Martin Space Systems in Sunnyvale, CA as a Senior Staff Engineer and subject matter expert in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3), including EMI/EMC. He has supported MUOS, GOES-R, SIRTF, SBIRS, DPP, FAME, & THAAD. He lends support to proposals and programs at all campuses across LMSSC (including the Advanced Technology Center), as well as EMC consulting at NASA Ames. He is a known and active participant in his technical field, published author, organizer of special paper sessions & workshops, leads professional standards committees, and instructs, teaches & mentors the next generation of engineers
