ABOUT JAMES LINE
My current role is that of Lead Safety, Risk and Assurance Manager at Merseyrail, overseeing the HSSE strategy across all business areas. In this role, I am responsible for maintaining the SMS, managing safety assurance activities, leading on the safety certificate and supporting project teams through the safety validation process.Previous roles held in the rail industry focussed largely on operational safety, and incident investigation.I have a strong background in academic research and science communication, largely focussed in Pharmacology, Immunology and Toxicology. I completed my PhD in immunopharmacogy at the University of Liverpool in 2025, working under Professor Dean Naisbitt; which focussed on the use of in silico and in vitro methods to investigate the nature of drug and chemical antigens displayed on HLA to T-cells.
