ABOUT JAMES LEWIS

I am a construction, engineering and infrastructure lawyer specialising in dispute resolution and project advice for clients at all levels of the supply chain. I have experience of dealing with all major forms of construction and engineering contracts, including JCT, NEC and FIDIC alongside bespoke form contracts, and I regularly advise clients on all forms of dispute resolution, including arbitration, litigation, adjudication and mediation in connection with construction, engineering and infrastructure projects located in the UK and internationally.I also have a keen interest in how artificial intelligence and the construction industry interact. I am in conversation with multiple stakeholders exploring the opportunities and managing the risks associated with this.I have been described as “one who can turn work around quickly and efficiently, to achieve the desired aims for the client”.My experience includes the following:1. Advising in relation to a multibillion-dollar arbitration concerning a major infrastructure project in the Middle East.2. Advising a specialist cladding and façade contractor across a number of major logistics projects in the UK in both High Court litigation and adjudication.3. Providing project management and dispute support to a number of build-to-rent developers in connection with projects situated across the UK.4. Advising a number of clients in the hospitality and student accommodation sectors in connection with claims brought on behalf of insolvent contractors in the UK.5. Advising the owner of one of Manchester’s most iconic buildings in a multimillion-pound dispute with one of its leaseholders in the High Court. The dispute concerned defective works at the property. All comments and opinions expressed on this profile are my own.
