ResearchMy research, in collaboration with industry, contributes the detailed characterisation of individual deposits, and to the development of conceptual mineral system models, which aid regional exploration campaigns.I use field studies, textural, chemical and stable isotope (O, C, B, and S) analysis of ore and alteration minerals, and fluid inclusions to explore the sources of hydrothermal fluids, and by proxy, sources of gold. Currently supervising economic geology PhD students, funded by industry. TeachingI deliver modules on geological resources, exploration case studies, and resource modelling to undergraduate students, and have introduced 3D modelling software to the Exploration and Resource Geology degree program at Cardiff.I lead field courses in ore deposit geology in Cornwall and Snowdonia, and supervise independent mapping projects in the Dolgellau Au belt in North Wales.
