About James Knight
A virtual production manager and consultant based in Los Angeles, James Knight spent four years overseeing the motion capture for James Cameron’s Avatar. He was also the performance capture supervisor for The Amazing Spiderman from Columbia Pictures and has worked on films such as I Am Legend and Prince Caspian. James Knight continues to utilize the innovative techniques developed on Avatar in his role as virtual production director for AMD, where he works with studio and managers on all aspects of media management. He has held this position since 2015. Mr. Knight earned a bachelor of science in finance from Berry College in Rome, Georgia. Active in his professional community, he is member of the Visual Effects Society (VES) and the Scientific and Technical Achievement Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, as well as a board member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). In his free time, Mr. Knight enjoys playing soccer and practicing jiu jitsu.
