   In my role as a GIS Specialist, I am responsible for executing a variety of tasks that require both specialized technical skills and creative problem-solving. I work under the guidance of the Team Lead, adhering to FEMA’s strict specifications and standards. My main responsibilities include gathering and analyzing data to support GIS projects, preparing detailed maps, performing analysis, and compiling metadata. I proactively communicate with the Team Lead about any issues related to incomplete or delayed data, working closely with scientists or engineers to resolve any challenges. I also participate in technical discussions and meetings with project managers and clients to ensure project goals are aligned. A significant part of my role involves creating, updating, and maintaining GIS databases, ensuring they meet FEMA specifications. I am responsible for submitting all FEMA-related GIS deliverables (QR1, QR3, QR5) and conducting quality control checks to ensure the integrity of GIS data and outputs. I collaborate with the Team Lead to identify the GIS data needed for FEMA studies and ensure that all GIS data and mapping meet FEMA guidelines. While I am capable of working independently, I use good judgment and seek assistance when necessary to overcome challenges effectively.
