James has been a prolific problem solver over the last 25 years. As an artist, finaling shots has been his stock and trade.\"It isn\'t about the glamorous shots. It is about, profitably, getting out the bulk of the work. That frees up the resources for the few really big shots that can go over in bid hours.\" he said. As a supervisor, he led the way at Zoic Studios to create a better workflow for their Z.E.U.S. pipeline. By creating a \'Comp template\', James was able to get 4 to 5 times the amount of work done with far greater consistency than was previously achievable. 200-300 shot episodic shows with a two week turn around became much more feasible with the new system. With the template process in place, he was able to help co-develop and inspire in-house tools that integrate Shotgun, Nuke, Maya and other Python capable applications to help streamline the artist workflow.\"Working with the amazing talent at Zoic, has really afforded me the chance to develop systems and create some really amazing visual effects over the last 3 years. I\'m very proud of the work we were able to achieve there.\" he said. As a senior artist and pipeline developer at Digital Dream, James created a Filemaker Pro pipeline for the facility. This included shot tracking, automated dailies publishing with color correction, email notification, Rush render management submission and a host of other tools all available at the click of a button.\"When I started there, they had very little capacity to handle large shows with automation. By the end of The Pacific for HBO, we had a whole system in place tracking 600+ shots and a working \'Element tracking system\'.\" James said. The Pacific went on to capture the Emmy award for VFX. Today, James can be found putting all of those skills to the test by partnering up with several other industry professionals to run Legion Studios. Crowd sourced visual effects, with a very specialized crowd. Top artists coming together to solve challenges.
