ABOUT JAMES HARTLEY

I\'m an experienced pensions actuary with 20 years\' industry experience (inc 20 years PQE). I\'m currently an actuary in Rothesay Life\'s actuarial outsourced team.Prior to joining Rothesay I was a pensions consultant for WTW and PwC, with a focus on:• providing advice to sponsors and trustees on how to manage their defined benefit pension arrangements. • leading on DB pensions technology. After graduating from Bristol with a MSc in Economics and Finance, I joined Willis Towers Watson (then Watson Wyatt) as a new graduate, qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2004. At TW I was a Scheme Actuary, part of the office management team and a senior consultant acting as the no.2 actuary on a number of FTSE100 clients. I also led the delivery of pensions accounting numbers for a major banking client, project managed one of the largest ever pensioner buy-ins and sat on the pension practice’s pricing committee. After nearly 12 years at TW I made the move to PwC. I was attracted by the fact that PwC provide a full service to their clients by bringing together a multi-disciplined team spanning expertise from audit, tax, corporate finance, business recovery and pensions to deliver leading edge solutions.After nearly 9 years at PwC I\'ve moved over to the actuarial outsource team at Rothesay.
