ABOUT JAMES HALL
I have been working in the sports industry for 10 years, developing, coordinating, and running Rugby programmes. My focus has been primarily around developing club, community, school, and university programmes. My passion and drive is simple - helping individuals realise their capabilities, potential and supporting them in achieving their goals, both through sport, physical activity and in other disciplines. Over the course of three years (2019 – 2022) I completed a Masters by Research Degree which included a thesis entitled “Game Sense: A theoretical Model for Practical Reality. A discussion with Rugby Union Coaches”. This explored different models of coaching psychology and behaviours and how these impact coaching practices. Over the summer months of 2017 and 2018, created, developed and led a leadership programme at Mountain Camp Woodside in California. This programme was designed for teenagers who were interested in pursuing teaching, coaching careers and camp councillor roles. My most recent role was Head of Girls Rugby at Shelford Rugby Club in Cambridge. During my tenure at the club, I established strong relationships with local primary and secondary schools and Anglia Ruskin University. These relationships led to the number of girls registered as members at the club, doubling within a 12-month period. I was solely responsible for establishing the clubs first player pathway from Under 12’s through to Women’s rugby and was recognised by the Eastern Counties Rugby Union as the most consistent club for Girls Rugby numbers in East Anglia. Shelford Rugby had set the challenge of establishing four stable age groups under the Girls section by 2026, and I achieved this by 2023, 3 years ahead of schedule.
