ABOUT JAMES CLARKE
James is the co-founder and CSO of Longhorn Life Sciences, where he leads research and device prototyping for iDetect, a microneedle-based wound-monitoring technology for early detection of surgical site infections. He is also Co-founder and Chief Scientist of Wyng, a sports-technology company building a next-generation wearable platform for real-time biomechanics and recovery insights, and an R&D Engineer at Throne Science, where he develops multimodal sensing and machine-learning pipelines for automated health analytics. James earned his PhD in Physics at UT Austin, where he studied the role of feedback and control theory in living systems—work that continues to inform his approach to sensing and adaptive technologies. He previously worked with Thermo Fisher Scientific, developing novel failure analysis applications to support the semiconductor industry. James is dedicated to using his cross-disciplinary fluency in physics, biology, and intelligent systems to drive continued impact in healthcare and biotechnology.
