Serves as a spokesperson, facilitator and coordinator to the media, congressional staffs and Veterans service organizations, the community, VA and other governmental officials. Develops campaigns and communication strategies that convey information to various public audiences, staff and its patients. Develops and disseminates a wide range of information and data concerning the nature and objectives of Agency programs, employing all types of media, including radio, television, newspapers, magazines, professional and scientific journals, pictures, posters, and exhibits.Coordinates news media interviews with staff and oversees arrangements with media representatives involving organization activities; provides supporting materials as required. Ensures proper attribution of news stories between staff members holding joint appointments with the medical college.Uses knowledge/skills of the public affairs/information/communications field including Associated Press (AP) writing style, proper use of grammar, writing, and editing practices for producing and/or editing news stories, feature articles, extended captions, blogs, social media posts, flyers, newsletters, brochures and other related products targeting diverse audiences.Uses demonstrable knowledge and skill in researching and drafting organizational news stories,with accompanying photographs, for internal and external audiences. Uses proven track record of developing and monitoring social and web media concepts, doctrine and policy, including researching and implementing new initiatives for all official VA System social media and web platforms.Use knowledge of the unique characteristics of medical/health delivery systems, organizationalstructure, resources, and program.Use broad familiarity working with Veterans, members of the U.S. Military and their familymembers, in addition to Veteran Service Organizations and other Veteran/military stakeholders.
