About James Downing
James Downing Jr. started his professional career at the age of 17 joining the United States Air Force as a fighter aircraft maintenance journeyman, certified to maintain all fighter aircraft in the Air Force inventory. During his time stationed at NASJRB, he attended college at Southeastern Louisiana University pursuing a degree in computer science. After finishing a 6-year enlistment, he relocated to Los Angeles, CA where he began over a decade-long career working in the restaurant industry. James has held every position in the front of house, ultimately rising all the way to the management level. Transitioning into the tech space James utilized his Hospitality experience as the Director of Hospitality at Trufl. James has extensive knowledge of Italian cuisine, wine, and spirits. He constructed an elevated cocktail menu for Michelin starred chef David LaFavre. Throughout his career, he has managed high volume restaurants exceeding covers per day, all the way to a fine dining level experience, booking reservations only.
