About James Dick

I\'m and Executive Creative Director, and Director based out of Brooklyn, New York. My core passion is creating engaging content that utilizes the latest technology. I love to make mesmerizing experiences through visuals, innovative interactions, and most importantly, story telling. My career starting developing online communities and running a web-design company in grade school. From there, my passion for the emerging digital arts led me to studying visual FX at the School of Visual Arts, where my Thesis film was awarded as the \"Outstanding Achievement\" film of that year. I then joined Framestore NY as they were just getting started. Beginning as a modeler, I quickly gained a large skillset from modeling and rigging to lighting and compositing. As my career at Framestore progressed, I led the creation of their commercials rigging software, worked in the film division, created experiences for their VR studio, was on-set supervisor with A-List directors and creative directed various commercial projects. In 2012 Framestore acknowledged my contributions with their coveted \"Framestore Hero\" of the year award.After Framestore I joined R/GA\'s studio as creative director to expand on my tech-driven aspirations and have a more active role in creative development. As Executive Creative director, I helped build the Studio\'s team and capabilities, develop and pitch creative to a large range of clients such as Samsung, Verizon, Slack, Roku, Reddit, Dupont, Netflix and many others. It was here I also began directing live action, AR, and animated spots. In 2021, I was awarded with R/GA\'s annual Cube award for being \"The Visionary\".With the emergence of Web3, I wanted to further my tech-journey and joined Candy Digital as an Executive Creative director. Candy afforded great freedom creating unique NFT products, where I was key in developing product strategies, working with our partners, pitching new partners, and overseeing the creation of both the final products and marketing surrounding them. Throughout my varied career, I have always found the most joy in building teams that find inspiration, achievement and pride in whatever we are creating. This is also perhaps why I spent 12 years teaching as a Production Skills and Thesis Advisor in the Computer Art department of the School of Visual Arts.
