ABOUT JAMES DAVIS
I am a mission-driven engagement and human relations professional with more than 20 years of experience enforcing civil rights laws, advancing fair housing, and leading community-based strategies that promote equity, accountability, and access. My work spans local and national platforms, where I’ve served as a trainer, investigator, strategic advisor, and coalition leader. I have held leadership roles in several influential organizations, including the International Association of Official Human Rights Agencies (IAOHRA), the National Association of Human Rights Workers (NAHRW), and the Equality Coalition for Housing Opportunities (ECHO). I’ve also contributed to cross-sector initiatives through my involvement with Digital Durham, Partnership for a Healthy Durham, and other regional collaboratives working at the intersection of housing, technology, and health equity. Throughout my career, I’ve led efforts to interpret and enforce federal and local non-discrimination laws, train housing professionals, and build coalitions across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. I am experienced in translating complex policy into clear guidance, helping organizations remain compliant while fostering environments of respect, fairness, and inclusion. In addition to my housing and civil rights work, I am deeply committed to youth leadership development and public service training. Whether working with government agencies, grassroots organizations, or community partners, I bring a balanced perspective, ethical clarity, and a talent for uniting people and resources around a common goal.
