Within this role James has the responsibility for the governance and innovation of the iRAP protocols along with managing the development of the associated iRAP suite of web applications, focusing on consistent and high-quality use of iRAP protocols around the world. Responsibility for the governance and innovation of iRAP’s protocols incorporates; development of the analytical models at the core of the protocols, leading the iRAP Global Technical Committee - a committee formed of the leading researchers in road safety from around the world, management and coordination of the multiple innovation partnerships that have been formed to evolve and refine the protocols – this involves working and coordinating with a range of partners across the world, from Bloomberg Philanthropies, to Research Institute for Highways China, through to Highways England.The iRAP suite of applications consists of:o ViDA – iRAP’s central computation and reporting web applicationo Star Rating for Designs – web application that enables road designers to assess the level of risk their design will have for the end users before it has left the drawing board o Star Rating for Schools – mobile and web applications which translates the iRAP Pedestrian Star Rating process into a novel context and wider user group
