Key Experience:Management: As a senior executive at Plan International and ActionAid International, responsible for strategy and policy development, planning and budgeting. As Chief Executive of a charity working in both the UK and overseas, initially working to quality targets including a re-skilling of the organisation – then growth targets. Finally converting an operational charity into a grant giving trust. Significant success in a sector characterised by flat management structures and participatory management styles.INGO management: Planning, design, implementation and management of projects and programmes particularly in the fields of health care and services to refugees/IDPs. Management of humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq including teams of consultants in Afghanistan.INGO operations: Successfully created budgeting, financial and operational procedures for Plan with a focus on maximising cost recovery, effectiveness at country office level and compliance procedures for large donors (governments and corporations) and latterly integrating these into Plan\'s new ERP system.Fundraising: Success in accessing funds from most institutional donors, familiarity with grant and tender application requirements (and subsequent contract management requirements), developed organizational capacity to access and manage institutional funding, developed and managed a UK voluntary fundraising capacity. Office development and management overseas: Significant experience of working with and managing multi-cultural teams and of adapting management techniques to fit differing cultures.
