Maintain the safety, cleanliness and security of the facility as well as the inmates, staff and visitors within the jail regardless of assignment.• Maintain a professional working environment and relationship with all staff, while demonstrating supervisory and leadership skills.• Conduct roll call (in the absence of or in collaboration with a Sergeant) at the beginning of their respective shift and for ensuring that all information, problems, or concerns pertinent to the operation of the unit are communicated from shift to shift.• Assist sergeants and provide information on ways and/or submit recommendations on unit improvements.• Conduct daily security and safety inspections of respective areas to include all emergency equipment. Ensure all entrance/exits are free ofclutter.• Document and communicate any maintenance discrepancies or security breaches to the shift sergeant.• Maintain presence in respective assigned areas/floors • Responsible for the overall operations of my area.• Ensure that correction officers read, review, adhere to, and are knowledgeable of applicable post orders, standard operating procedures, departmental rules, and departmental policies and procedures, inmate rules and regulations and any memorandums or published guidelines that affect the area of responsibility.• Supervise, direct, train and assist correction officers in performing their daily duties.• Use discretion to assign additional duties when necessary for operational safety and efficiency.• Check respective housing units daily to ensure that I provide the necessary support and instruction for the correction officers assigned to them.• Monitor and evaluate correction officers\' job performance, while communicating clear direction and expectations.•Investigate all incidents in units to ensure all applicable policies and procedures are implemented and within departmental guidelines. • Respond to all emergencies that occur during assigned shifts.

Cleveland’s own International Award Winning Author & Speaker Jameel Davis, earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Criminology & Justice Studies from Kent State University in 2013 and has been employed at the Cuyahoga County Sheriff Department ever since. Shortly thereafter, he became an Agent of Change, a Speaker, Writer, Poet, & Author.In his community, Jameel is known as a positive and highly respectable individual, dedicated to promoting kindness, understanding and hope to disadvantage children and adults alike. He is committed to sharing his story, lifting up and empowering others through his motivational talks, inspiring poetry and books, as well as shinning rays of hope throughout Cleveland, Oh and beyond. Jameel is known for his educational seminars and his speaking appearances at schools and organizations.Jameel has served as a panelist for Cleveland Clinic’s “Youth Violence Discussion”, as part of their safe summer campaign, and Kent State University School of Journalism’s, “My Voice. Our Stories” community discussion covered by WKYC Channel 3. He is featured in the 10th, 11th, & 12th Anniversary editions of Who’s Who in Black Cleveland, the 10th edition being forwarded by LeBron James. He appeared as a guest on WVON -1690 Chicago, Matt McGill’s Morning Show, WENZ Z1079, KAZ Radio TV Network, VIBE105 Toronto and on many other radio platforms.Jameel is set to release his new book,\"Completely Naked\" soon and has appeared with his books,\"How Success Became My Focus,\"\"Cultivating Minds To Own Thyself\" and \"In Between These Sheets\" at many schools, libraries and bookseller locations on the East Coast. He has traveled across the country and internationally to Toronto, Ontario, Canada making author and speaking appearances. He has entered and won poetry slams and has opened up for and performed alongside of national and international recording artists.Values-in-Action Foundation presented Jameel with the 2018 Eric Scott Russell Kindness Award at their 23 Annual Rescuer of Humanity Awards Dinner. In August of 2018, KYA Publishing, a Toronto, Ontario Canada - based boutique publishing and communications company, invited Jameel to facilitate their 5th Annual Toronto Urban Book Expo, host a series of networking events and coordinate access to cultural activities during their book expo and annual Caribbean Carnival weekend. He currently sits on their Board of Directors. Jameel Davis, who was born and raised by a very young mother in poverty dominated communities in Cleveland enjoys traveling, spreading his wisdom and enjoying life.
