ABOUT JAMAL HAILEY

I am a counseling psychology trainee, seasoned public health professional, behavioral scientist, and strategist. I’m an expert in program design, quality assurance, developing strategic partnerships, working with marginalized populations, and community outreach and engagement. As a Program Director for an adolescent health program, I developed numerous projects which improved access and retention to health care for at-risk youth in an urban city, worked on policy to address sexual and reproductive health for high school aged youth, developed interactive training modules and workshops designed to improve health care and behavioral health services for youth and young adults in health departments and other non-governmental agencies. My career has spanned many aspects of community health care most notably through professional roles as a research analyst, program manager, sexual health educator, HIV counselor, and case manager. As a result, I am able to manage various projects and navigate complex systems. Through these experiences I have developed core professional values which center on the following- Leaders are most effective when they support and nurture growth within their team- Work done with integrity is generally rewarding- If you love what you do, you will rarely feel like you are going to work- Always find moments to laugh and have fun throughout your day.I enjoy making new professional contacts. Reach out if you want to chat about social justice issues, behavioral and social research, health care access, or video games. My research interest include: identity formation for non-heterosexually identified men, body dysmorphic disorder in youth, gender identity formation, ethnocentricity and its impact on health outcomes, individual and community level trauma in communities of color.
