As part of the international team at Energy Saving Trust, I oversee our strategy, partnerships and research focused on clean energy access in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.My key responsibilities include:• Developing and nurturing strategic partnerships with key energy access stakeholders; • Conceptualising, fundraising for, and advising on flagship initiatives including productive use of renewable energy, sustainable cooling, humanitarian energy, agriculture-energy nexus and first-time energy access;• Actively contributing towards transformational initiatives including the Advisory Steering Committee of the Power for Food Partnership, Steering Committee of the Agri-Energy Coalition, and various sector-wide working groups. • Speaking at high-level conferences such as Climate COPs, Africa Food Systems Forum, GOGLA Forum, or World Cold Chain Symposium at UNEP’s headquarters.

ABOUT JAKUB VRBA
Jakub is a chartered mechanical engineer specialising in energy access and efficient appliances designed for off- and weak-grid areas. He leads on energy access strategy, partnerships and research at Energy Saving Trust focused on sustainable cooling solutions and the agriculture-energy nexus in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Prior to that, he worked as a renewable energy consultant at Xodus, an energy networks research analyst at the Scottish Government\'s Energy and Climate Change team, and as a solar energy systems researcher at the Centre for Renewable Energy Research at the University of Porto. These experiences have provided Jakub not only with a thorough understanding of the technical challenges and opportunities related to renewable energy generation, storage and end-use but also the relevant policy and social barriers associated with these complex projects.Outside of his full-time role, Jakub serves as a board trustee at 2050 Climate Group which aims to empower, equip and enable young people to take action on the climate crisis. He is passionate about renewable energy, climate justice and sustainable development.
