About Jake Livengood

I strive to help others become experts in themselves in order to translate those qualities to add value to their organizations. To me, talent development + listening and empathy + engagement = high-quality outcomes for employees. I help make this equation happen through relationship building, training, advising, leadership and teaching. I\'ve partnered with students and adult learners since 2003, and I have provided individual career and professional development guidance with a wide variety of experiential levels at seven colleges and universities. These experiences have provided a foundation of using various assessment tools, and I have used them in groups and individually, including improv, design thinking, skills exploration, strengths and values activities. My dissertation on leadership has also helped me become familiar with various leadership assessments and tools. I design and lead applied improv talent development training via outside consulting to help attendees become better communicators, collaborators, prepare for job interviews, develop a leadership voice and become more comfortable in giving a presentation.(My counseling background greatly helps in this area. Having the last name \"Livengood\" is also helpful, as I was born with a positive personal brand). My love for helping is also exemplified in the college classroom – whether that is in person or online. While working full-time, I have taught college courses part-time at six institutions on topics of professional communications, group counseling, career and professional development and adjusting to college life. In my various roles, I have partnered with employers in many industries to create effective recruitment and talent sourcing strategies while at MIT, Tufts Public Health & Professional Degree Programs, BU, Framingham State, UNLV and Loyola University Chicago. Specialties: Talent, training and development, coaching, leadership, teaching and learning, using improv to help with leadership and communication; collaborations with employers, training students and employees, creating engaging and outcome-driven training both in-person and online.
