Since joining Tokyo Industries as Technical Manager for Gorilla and The Deaf Institute, I’ve had the unique opportunity to help lead the technical transformation of two of Manchester’s most iconic live music venues. Both steeped in musical heritage, these venues present an exciting challenge in bringing its infrastructure, team and operations into line with modern production standards.My role is equal parts technical specialist, people manager, project coordinator and crisis solver. At its core, it’s about delivering exceptional live events — from sold-out gigs to touring club nights. Delivering great events doesn’t start at doors. It starts with planning, maintenance, systems, people and culture.Across both venues, I manage everything from freelance engineering teams and gear maintenance to production advancing, system upgrades and on-the-night operations. I’m also responsible for building strong relationships with promoters, tour managers, production crews and artists.This role has developed my problem solving, people and resource management skills, technical understanding and ability to work well under pressure in demanding environments.
