About Jake Matillano
I\'m an aspiring software engineer with a passion for Python, Java, React/Redux, Flask, Express, JavaScript, Node.js, and CSS/HTML amongst other technologies. I was originally pursuing a 4-year degree in Computer Science at San Diego State University but dropped out due to family and financial reasons and ended up working full-time and continuing my passion for Software Engineering through completion of a coding bootcamp at App Academy. I\'ve learned to appreciate the ever-evolving nature of the tech industry, as there\'s always something to feed my hunger to learn - whether it\'s picking up a new language or catching up on docs as technologies get upgraded. I also take pleasure in solving logical problems using different approaches, as well as the creative aspect behind creating an intuitive, entertaining, and elegant user experience. Right now, I\'m working on adding more features to some of my existing projects, such as an interactive UI that allows users to drag and drop elements, as well as waveforms. I\'m looking into brushing up on my Java in my free time as well. When I\'m not coding, I enjoy exploring nature and cities - Yosemite is currently my favorite national park, but I have a lot left to explore. Additionally, I enjoy dabbling in a wide variety of sports and instruments: soccer, tennis, fencing, MMA, piano, and guitar to name a few. I am especially passionate about team-based sports, which have taught me important interpersonal skills that I use to this day. I live life for new experiences, which relates to the joy I find in programming - there\'s always something new to learn and master. Both in life and in programming, my thirst for knowledge and experience has been ever-growing. I thoroughly enjoy the process of rising to a challenge and forcing myself to think not only logically, but creatively, when I face problems. Thanks for taking the time to read about me!
