ABOUT JAKE MACE
Jake is an Architect and urban designer based in Birmingham, U.K. Jake has explored his passion for urbanism, theoretical-led design and technological advancement through his works in academia. In particular, Jake pushed his interests in theoretical design within his Master\'s project \'House of the Anguilla Anguilla\' where he carefully curated the combination of biodiversity and sustainability issues to that of human cognitive behaviour. Jake is well accomplished in his Urban design and architectural skills which have been well demonstrated in his Master\'s urban design proposal for Weston-super-mare \'Ebb and flow\', which subsequently was nominated for the RIBA president\'s medal silver award. The proposal sought to embrace the set of exchanges made between Weston (settlers), super (on/over) and mare (sea). Through these exchanges, a rebalance of the three forms could embrace a new society of Weston-super-mare that ebbed and flowed, allowing nature and human life to flourish together whilst reducing carbon impacts. Prior to his master\'s, Jake studied architecture and planning at the University of the West of England (UWE) and spent a year abroad at Politecnico di Milano. His hard work during his bachelor\'s study was recognised by his nomination for the RIBA presidents medal bronze award. The project \'voice box\' was a politically engaged musical space that allowed freedom of speech to flourish through different forms of media. Alongside a new town masterplan for Frome. The synchronisation between the building and master plan demonstrated Jake\'s ability to work harmoniously between the two very different scales. Jake is a recently qualified Architect and continues working on an array of different-sized and multifaceted projects at D5 Architects, leading the way in high-quality design, sustainable output and championing the use of VR within the practice. Prior to working at IA, Jake spent a year at Benoy architects and master planners, where he gained much knowledge working on large residential, retail and service projects, whilst continuing to develop his masterplanning skills on numerous city-scale projects abroad.
