About Jake Kane

What do you want to be when you’re older? I want to be an Electrical Engineer.Growing up, it’s the answer that has always felt most natural. Both my parents are engineers. My favorite Christmas gift when I was 10 was a “create your own circuit board” playset. Fast forward past graduating from Purdue University with an EE degree and jumping straight into a technical role, I now find myself looking for a new opportunity and asking the same question.As I reflect on my work experience, it wasn’t the technical side that made me so successful, although that’s the foundation of every good engineer. It was the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and solve problems as a part of a team that led me to success. I am really a people person. Leveraging that made identifying the true issue and coming to an elegant solution much easier. I love to break down complex systems and understand them at their depth. Our system had a part failing at a high rate. To me, the fix was not just replacing the part, so I took it further. I gathered the performance data, wrote code to interpret it, and worked with the team to design a preventative, rather than a reactive, solution. I take on problems that others find to be unsolvable. Now, rather than just a feeling, I have a concrete answer. I love being an Electrical Engineer.
