About Jake Evans
I am the Legislative Assistant for Congressman Mike Carey and graduate of the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service. Prior to my masters degree, I graduated in April 2022 from Ohio University with a double major in Political Science and History. My legislative portfolio includes Armed Services, Homeland Security, Foreign Affairs, Trade, Commerce, Agriculture, Telecommunications, Intelligence, and International Tax, and Immigration. I was previously Legislative Aide/Corespondent for the office.Prior to my position with Rep. Carey, I was the Staff Assistant/Legislative Correspondent with Congressman Brad Wenstrup. I contributed by running the front office, assisting the mail programs, and managing the offices interns.During Summer 2023, I was a Legislative Intern for a Congressional member of the Ohio Delegation. For the internship, I led constituent tours, wrote cosponsorship and hearing memos, and assisted office staff with any necessary tasks at hand. While attending the Voinovich School, I was also a Graduate Assistant for the school\'s economic development department. The program taught me valuable skills such as data analytics, interaction with public officials, formatting through Excel and other platforms, high levels of organization, as well as local economic evaluation/development.Some prior employment experience includes work with the Ohio GOP Victory Team as a Campaign Field Operative. I was charged with managing two counties (Gallia/Jackson) during the 2020 Presidential campaign. Both counties had at least a 25% increase in Republican voter turnout. This experience taught me how to interface with politicians, business professionals and volunteers at a personal and professional level. An additional workplace experience was with Boich Companies. This was my first foray into political and economic activities as I shadowed company executives while they were interfacing with major state and federal politicians in regard to energy policy in Ohio. This was in both renewable and non-renewable energy sectors.Regarding educational achievements, I am very proud to have achieved Dean\'s List recognition during my time at the Voinovich School, as well as graduate school scholarship funding.
