Jake Acock is a member of the Business & Property group at No.5 Chambers, specialising in chancery, property and commercial work. Jake is frequently instructed on matters beyond his level of call.Jake has developed a busy practice in the High Court and County Court in a variety of trials and hearings. Jake is experienced to act in all stages of a claim and has experience in dealing with high value matters. Jake has a busy practice drafting pleadings and providing written advice, often in complex cases. Jake has appellate experience in both the County and High Court, and recently drafted grounds of appeal for the Court of Appeal.Before coming to the Bar, Jake worked as a lecturer and tutor at both University College London and the London School of Economics in contract and tort law. At LSE, Jake was recognised for his outstanding teaching by the Dean of the Law School, with all of Jake’s students rating his teaching as excellent. Jake regularly gives lectures and training for clients and solicitor firms.Jake was awarded scholarships by Gray’s Inn for both the GDL and Bar Course. Jake earned the highest grade in his year for tort law on the GDL and ranked among the top ten students for contract law. In his Bar studies, Jake earned the highest grade for civil advocacy in his year.Jake also believes in helping pro bono causes. This year, Jake is recognised on the pro bono list for England and Wales for volunteering over 100 hours to pro bono causes, including Advocate (the Bar’s national pro bono charity).In his spare time Jake enjoys baking and travelling, and frequently finds himself doing escape rooms.
